Platform
OUC manages the Brown Image Gallery (BIG), also known as the University’s digital asset management (DAM) system. BIG serves as an important centralized tool for organizing and sharing digital assets, primarily still imagery, across the Brown community.
What BIG Offers
- Unit-level Use: Units can organize and manage their own assets within dedicated folders called asset groups.
- Shared Access: Digital assets can be shared with other units, making it easier to find and reuse high-quality content.
- University-Wide Resources: BIG includes a “University Assets Group” or shared collection accessible to all Brown users with a University login.
Shared Service Model
The BIG is designed to benefit all Brown units that produce digital content. Its strength depends on active participation across campus—especially from communications teams. Units are expected to:
- Contribute regularly to the University Assets Group.
- Share images that may be useful to others, reducing duplication of efforts and costs associated with hiring freelance photographers.
By working together, Brown units help maintain a robust, high-quality library of visual content that reflects the University’s academic and community life.
